Summary:
The British Aerospace Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft was designed as an integral part of the Royal Air Force jet pilot training scheme. The original British Ministry of Defence (Procurement Executive) fixed price contract allowed for the inclusion of design aspects for further development. Subsequently the Baseline aircraft has been developed by British Aerospace to a significant attack capability, including a single seat variant. Selected by nine World Air Forces, including a derivative, in association with McDonnell Douglas, for the US Navy T45 Training System, the Hawk has demonstrated versatility, reliability, effectiveness and low life cycle costs
