- Summary:
- Current day requirements for die castings for automotive decorative applications have been previously limited in wall thicknesses and design configurations because of limitations of the hot chamber die casting machine. The papers arising out of the Australian Die Casting Congress in 1977 reflected on the current problems with the present vertical hot chamber design of die casting machines. Study of these inherent design problems led to the realization that a new concept of hot chamber die casting is called for if we are to achieve the higher metal velocities and pressures now called for to make the ultra thin hot chamber parts now required in die casting. Also, world pressures are dictating new designs to make all machinery safer to protect the operator and to make the machinery more efficient to keep our environment cleaner and to use less fuel supplies.Studying this problem, Harvill Machine, Incorporated has developed a new concept in hot chamber die casting, the new Horizontal Hot Chamber die casting machine
