Ten years and five million hours of operating time, combined with the experience gained in manufacturing over 4000 TFE731 engines, served as the basis for the new TFE731-5. This report highlights some of the more important elements that contributed to the design and development of the -5 model.Special emphasis is placed on subtleties of the actual operational environment, the importance of a well planned and well executed continuing airworthiness program, and the importance of timely field experience feedback to the engine designers and developers
