Summary:
The most appropriate screener for cam and follower combinations is a line contact rig. The Timken rig has been used by others (Sun) and we have also developed a test to screen additive combinations in oils for catastrophic wear and have used surface elemental analysis to detect additive surface competition. Frictional effects are also discussed
