- Summary:
- Prelubes are lubricants supplied by steel mills and will replace both mill oils presently used by the steel mills and drawing compounds currently in use at stamping plants, Prelubes will provide corrosion protection while coils are shipped and stored, will impart the required drawability in metal forming operations and will inhibit corrosion on formed parts during shipping to assembly plants. Prelubes cannot interfere with metal assembly and corrosion preventives used in stamping plants or with the phosphate, ELPO and paint processes at our assembly plants.Several prelube materials have been successfully tried out in Fisher Body stamping plants on parts which are difficult to draw. The advantages of using prelubes include cost savings, improved quality and increased productivity
