This included engine evaluations to determine conversion feasibility. The GM 292 in3 six cylinder gasoline engine was found to be as compatible with the TCCS. Design of the conversion was accomplished by Ricardo Consulting Engineers Limited, while performance confirmation on a laboratory single cylinder engine was carried out in Texaco's Beacon Research Laboratories.Four multi-cylinder engines were fabricated by Ricardo. One has been dynamometer tested and installed in a UPS Package Delivery Van. Performance comparison with a standard GM 292 will be presented. The test program has included side-by-side vehicle operation in simulated parcel delivery service. Future plans will be discussed
