- Summary:
- This paper surveys computerized optical processing techniques for monitoring fit and finish of automotive assembly systems. A number of optical and electronic techniques are surveyed which are used to control the surface and dimensional tolerances, warpage, and component variations. Some of the optical/signal processing techniques include the use of t.v. cameras, light beams, laser beams, x-rays, and ultrasonics. From a theoretical view point, the integrated hardware and software required to guarantee acceptable automotive assemblies are discussed
