With the onset of newer plastics for the weight reduction program in automobiles, the finishing process becomes more complex. The organic coating must adhere to the substrate without destroying the desirable properties of the plastic. Factors, such as, cure temperature of the coating must be less than the heat distortion temperature of the plastic, crazing,embrittlement and adhesion must be considered.
