Summary:
Development of a high injection rate as a means of meeting emissions and exhaust smoke control standards has posed various problems in fuel injection pumps. This paper describes the investigation into these problems in the two relative fields of high load and high speed area as well as low load and low speed area. In conjunction with high load and high speed, the paper describes experimental examples and the mechanism of fuel delivery control characteristics, design examples of the pump cam profile, cavitation erosion of the injection pipe and the improvement in the reliability of governer parts. Problems and countermeasures relative to instability of engine revolution caused by the injection system will be reported in connection with low load and low speed area
