Summary:
Abstract:Direct Shell Production Casting (DSPC®) is a new patternless metal casting process that shows a considerable promise in cutting time to market of new automotive engines, transmissions and turbochargers. DSPC enables the production of a functional net shape casting before patterns and core boxes are made or even designed, which consequently expedites the design and the functional testing of new components. DSPC uses the designer's Computer Aided Design (CAD) to create the actual ceramic casting molds. Bypassing the need for tooling enables the customer to pursue many more design iterations at considerably less cost, each in a matter of days
