AbstractVideoconferencing is a technology that is beginning to impact the manufacturing and engineering processes in the automotive industry. Lean and Agile Manufacturing is one of those processes. With fully interactive, compressed videoconferencing available, using existing low cost digital telephone networks, simultaneous manufacturing team members can be virtually co-located and conduct all of their project meetings together as if they were in the same building. Since this process requires superb communication links, videoconferencing has proven to be a successful enabler of the lean and agile manufacturing initiatives
