Summary:
High Speed Pulse Welding is highly effective in welding ferrous Powder Metallurgy (P/M) materials and the process is known for its ability to weld dissimilar wrought materials. This study describes the weldability of Fe+.45P P/M parts to 1010 sheet, 304 SS sheet, 304 SS P/M and to Itself. The weld criteria for joining these combinations is defined and several part / joint designs are illustrated. The Fe+.45P was easily welded to itself and the other substrates with tensile strengths equal to the parent materials. High Speed Pulse Welding proves to be an effective method for fastening Fe+.45P P/M to various materials
