- Secretary Perry's directive along with the continued focus of the ARPA program is bringing the dual-use technology concept ever closer to the defense and military semiconductor manufacturer. This push for dual-use technologies is changing the design philosophy of the defense contractor while causing the military semiconductor manufacturer to change its way of business. Both sides of the party will benefit from the dual-use concept. The military semiconductor manufacturer will be able to provide a larger variety of products introduced to the military market quicker by utilizing a more commercial-like flow for its processes. This variety of products can be offered at various price points to provide many options for performance-based specifications. The defense contractor will reap the rewards of products introduced quicker to the market by remaining on the leading-edge of technology. The various product grades offered by the military semiconductor manufacturer will allow more flexible product positioning for the defense contractor in the defense and commercial sectors
