Summary:
This paper explores the effects of transient overcurrent pulses on the lifetime of automotive fuses. Repetitive current pulses of varying energy levels were applied to standard automotive blade fuses. From these experimental results, a pulse cycle withstand curve was developed as part of a step-by-step procedure for the proper selection of automotive fuses under transient pulse conditions
