It can affect the lubrication oil consumption, the blow-by, the wear behaviour and due to the friction, the fuel consumption. In order to achieve future requirements regarding exhaust emissions and fuel consumption, the requirements for low cylinder distortion engine blocks will play a significant role. Hence, a new technique to determine liner distortion during fired engine operation was developed
