- Summary:
- This paper describes the construction and operation of a novel internal combustion engine. The engine uses a stratified-charge system for high fuel efficiency and multi-fuel capability, but with refinements for reliable ignition, higher air utilization, and higher speed operation. This engine is based on pairs of cylinders that work in cooperation, with one cylinder performing the intake and compression functions, and the other performing the expansion and exhaust functions. The two cylinders are interconnected by an open passageway, which facilitates the air and fuel mixture, as well as the initiation of combustion with a spark
