- Summary:
- The extension of Diesel engine oil drain intervals is now widely recognised as an essential part of the global effort to reduce the amount of waste oil generated by society. Engine end users are demanding units which require less frequent and less costly servicing, OEM's are responding by employing a number of techniques to meet this need.Bypass centrifugal oil cleaners are known to be effective in prolonging engine service life. This paper demonstrates, through a series of long term engine tests, that the use of a modern bypass centrifugal oil cleaner in combination with a full-flow metal screen can safely double the oil drain interval of an 8 litre sized diesel engine. The results also show the centrifuge to have a beneficial effect on the condition of engine components even with the extended drain period
