- Summary:
- AbstractThe internal combustion engines development includes dynamometer tests in order to research and adequate components. The main advantages of dynamometer tests are the quick and reliable answers and a great number of possible thermal and mechanical loads, when compared to field tests on vehicle. The difficulty on the correlation between the results obtained on test beds with those obtained in the same engine on real utilization conditions is the disadvantage of this kind of test. This paper presents a development where cyclic tests on dynamometer test beds were used in order to obtain the oil consumption during the development of new piston ring projects. These cyclic tests were developed because the conventional dynamometer tests did not reproduce the results obtained for oil consumption in field tests. To elaborate these tests, a mathematical program was developed in order to make the correlation between engine tests on test beds and those tests run on vehicles
