Summary:
The present evolution of regulated braking requires the knowledge and control of dynamic parameters of the vehicle during the braking process. The application we propose is the on-line strain measurement of the braking torque of the caliper support on a disk brake (Fig. 2), with in situ signal processing. At the car-manufacturer's request we studied an additional version of the measurement system. On the basis of these considerations we defined a low-cost intelligent sensor. It may also be applied to other fields for strain and stress measurement
