- The availability of high speed digital signal processors has made it possible to implement computationally intensive algorithms in real-time. This paper describes a system consisting of A/D's, D/A's and a Motorola DSP56001 digital signal processor for real-time identification of a control system plant transfer function. The input-output data from the plant are sent to the Motorola DSP56001 which calculates the coefficients of the transfer of the plant using a recursive least squares algorithm. Results on the identification of three control system plant transfer functions are presented
