Summary:
Output clipping detection in audio power amplifiers has become widespread. This paper illustrates the mathematics useful to calculate the clipping total harmonic distortion of a sinusoidal signal as well as the relationship between the latter and the output of a clipping detection device. Furthermore, a few circuital solutions are described in connection with a system dimensioning problem
