Summary:
A group from government and industry, in cooperation with U.S. Army Belvoir Research, Development and Engineering Center (BRDEC) and the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Command (TACOM) is developing a military diesel fuel filter methodology and specification for wheeled and tracked vehicles. This proposed specification is a combination of existing procedures that have proven successful in evaluating diesel fuel filters performance. The main areas of concern are measuring 1) filter efficiency, 2) load capacity, and 3) water removal.Suggested test stand designs, test procedures, and filter requirements are included. These requirements are more stringent than the average commercial filter specifications due to the harsh and unknown environments in which the military vehicles and equipment have to perform
