- Summary:
- With more and more stringent fuel consumption regulations, the engine design requirements for lightweight and high power density are also higher and higher. With the improvement of engine strengthening degree, it will lead to some durability problems. The increase of power density makes the engine heat load increase, the structural lightweight reduces the structural stiffness of cylinder head, which increases the relative deformation between the cylinder head flange and block, the sealing pressure of gasket and wear of gasket coating also deteriorated. Therefore, it is very important to identify and optimize the cylinder gasket leakage risk in the early design stage. In order to solve the problem of cylinder gasket leakage, a simulation methodology for accurately simulating the engine thermal shock test process is proposed in this paper. Considering the cylinder pressure change, transient thermal load change, bench installation, fretting wear of gasket coating in cycle conditions, the areas with low gasket pressure and high friction work were identified accurately, and the simulation results were consistent with the experimental leakage area. The scheme of adding the limiting gasket rib in the leakage area and optimizing the rib direction locally is proposed, the simulation results show that the gasket pressure and friction work of the optimized gasket in the leakage area are greatly improved, and the optimized gasket has passed the thermal shock test successfully
