Summary:
When a customer needs to park their vehicle at a parking lot for a long time, it is important to ensure the 12V auxiliary battery has enough energy left until the customer returns. Maintaining the state of charge of the 12V battery high enough is critical for starting a vehicle regardless of vehicle propulsion types. However, the existing solutions only focus on the current draw when the modules on the 12V system are asleep, which is insufficient when the customer needs to leave for a significant long time, or the trip extends to a longer duration than expected. Our proposed method intelligently gathers trip updates from the customer, assesses the battery state of charge, and maintain state of charge using vehicle resources. Unlike the existing passive approaches, our method enables the vehicle to make intelligent decisions to maintain the state of charge and ensure vehicle drivability upon customer arrival. Simulation results indicate that our method fulfills the technology gap that associated with existing methods. As a result, the state of charge remained healthy until the customer got back from their extended trip
