Summary:
The advancement in technology has led to the growing demand for data bandwidth, the traditional CAN protocol is slowly getting replaced by the Ethernet protocol as it suffices the need for the growing demand for bandwidth. A good network design for an ethernet network in automotive is the need of the hour. There are different network design topologies existing, bus topology, and star topology. Based on the need for the network design the topology is being selected. To form a star topology network an Ethernet switch architecture is to be utilized. The Switched Ethernet network design is being widely accepted and used in automotive and industrial applications. This paper discusses the different hardware variants, star topology, which is to be formed by an ethernet switch, its advantages, and use cases, a configuration in AUTOSAR. The paper also proposes the design, architecture of the Ethernet switch and share the analysis of the ethernet switch results in this paper
