Summary:
In commercial vehicles, the exhaust brake is a type of auxiliary brake and is used for retarding on a downhill slope and for slowing down the vehicle while driving. In order to meet the customer's demand for exhaust brakes, it is necessary to determine the target for the development of auxiliary brakes at the product proposal stage. In this study, performance design was performed to derive exhaust brake specifications to meet the development goals. In order to analyze the function, a functional tree diagram that can know the causal relationship was prepared. In the development stage, a multiphysics system model was constructed to predict performance. Among exhaust brake performance, design factors sensitive to stabilization pressure and peak pressure were searched. The exhaust brake performance design was carried out through design factor optimization, and it was confirmed that the target braking performance was achieved through vehicle evaluation
