Summary:
A lot of engine sound quality issue can be classified as some specific words, such as "Rattle, Knocking, Modulation, Loud, Whistles" and et cetera Engineers were trying to quantify this phenomenon with objective data. In this paper, we would like to propose a novel method that separates the engine sound quality into five different objective parameters, which covers engine noise level, whine or whistling, clatter - tick phenomenon and roughness. Based on the new method, the engine sound quality can be mapped into a final sound quality matrix - ESQM (Engine Sound Quality Matrix) to compare by the total number or by the contributors individually
