Summary:
The current request of electrical components is associated to the uncertainty of the market strategy and to the risk of technological recursion during development, due to the high level of innovation. For this reason, the products, which are under development, have to cover the worst-case use scenarios and be modular as much as possible, to be adapted on an evolving context. We developed an innovative electric oil pump, with BLDC motor and integrated electronic for automotive applications.Even if this concept is already consolidated, we upgraded it in order to be able to cover typical automotive temperature ranges and by targeting high power density and reduced packaging, perfect for the new powertrains layouts.Inside the power pack (motor + ECU), a calibrated oil recirculation circuit is cooling the integrated ECU, in this case, the heat generated by the electronic components is constantly removed and therefore the ambient temperature can arise up to 140°C without creating any problem to the electronic subcomponents. Our power pack can be combined with different modular pumping elements (Gerotor, Spur Gears, balanced gears, impellers), based on required Pressure levels, in order to cover different applications. If the pump is assembled with Gerotor, it's perfect for the low Pressure need of the eaxle lubrication (either the rotor of the e_machine or the gears of the transmission). In case of use of Spur Gears, it can be used to actuate the movement inside gear boxes, either for EV or for HEV application (where the higher temperature due to ICE is no more a limit). The possibility to assembly high some efficient gears is perfect for the high dynamic requirements of Torque vectoring, where high Pressure level is needed.Different layouts are investigated and energy comparison discussed by means of multi-variable validated simulation tools
