Summary:
Problems of reducing emissions of harmful substances and fuel consumption of the engine are interrelated, since they are mainly determined by the work process. Measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption cause changes, often upwards, in emissions of toxic components. The fuel and ecological criterion taking is offered into consideration taking into account the engine operating conditions for a reasonable choice of technical solutions on complex improvement of fuel profitability and toxic level indicators of the exhaust gases. This criterion allows evaluation of the efficiency of the developed actions, including the use of alternative fuels and systems of the exhaust engine neutralization. Calculation and analysis of the results of the complex criterion calculation allows you to determine the operating modes for which the cost of fuel and compensation for environmental damage are most significant, purposefully develop measures aimed at improving the quality of the engine, evaluate the effectiveness at using alternative fuels or exhaust gas neutralization systems. The model of automobile engine operation is offered. With the use of complex fuel and ecological criterion the analysis of efficiency assessment of the truck diesel engine performance on alternative fuels is carried out. The application of dimensionless complex criterion allowed to give a quantitative assessment of alternative fuels application in the automobile diesel engine. The water-fuel emulsion is the most effective alternative fuel for the automobile diesel engine. During the truck diesel operation on water-fuel emulsion, complex criterion considerably increases by 15%. This is due to a simultaneous decrease in exhaust toxicity and specific fuel consumption
