Summary:
AbstractHigh Solids paint technology is a concept to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) and improve quality metrics. This technology is very well known in the United States and Europe, but is used in Brazil only at São Bernardo do Campo plant implemented in 2013.The VOC reduction is a concern for every company that has a sustainability goal even if Kyoto Protocol and São Paulo environmental license (CETESB) do not require a target for emissions for current industries, just for new plants (40 ton/year).Ford has started a global platform implementation process that includes new technologies for all models. The implementation of High Solids was extended for more than a year due to the complexity involved in changing colors, clear coat, and also launching a new car at the same time. The implementation required many validations and a good strategy to launch this technology because it is not just a good work plan that is required but also a budget to support all the changes and services in paint shop
