Summary:
In a modern vehicle, hundreds of messages are transmitted each second from one ECU to another via data network, some of those containing vital information for the correct functioning of a specific task. The vehicle's behavior may change depending on the value of the transmitted messages or, in some cases, the latency or total absence of a message due to a problem in the network or in the sender ECU may cause the vehicle to generate a fault code or even assume an emergency mode. Thus, it is necessary to simulate different values and transmission periods for the existing messages in a network in order to test if the vehicle is reacting properly to them. This paper will show how to simplify individual CAN message manipulation in an existing network, using tools available in the market
