- Summary:
- In response to the continued industry trend towards downsized, downsped gasoline and diesel engines, Eaton has continued to createand optimize small displacement TVS® Superchargers for volumetricand isentropic efficiency at low speeds. Such efficiencyimprovements enable maximum engine torque at very low engine speedsin both transient and steady state conditions. Development of theV-Series has primarily focused on units in the 250 cc to 400 ccdisplacement range, with applications both as a single boostdevice, and as an element in a compound boost system. Keyparameters such as rotor length, diameter and helix angle, as wellas inlet and outlet port geometry have been optimized forperformance and NVH characteristics. This paper will summarize the performance, packaging, and NVH ofV-Series TVS® superchargers compared to R-Series TVS® superchargersand outline the end benefits that this can provide to customers.V-Series has demonstrated a low speed volumetric efficiencyimprovement of up to 18%
