- Ford's portfolio approach to sustainable mobility offers alarge range of fuel-efficient engines and alternative-fuel vehicles- including EcoBoost®, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, flexible fuel,battery-electric, B20 biodiesel and compressed natural gas orliquefied petroleum gas (CNG/LPG) vehicles. The Ford Fleet PurchasePlanner has been developed to assist fleet customers in comparingthese alternatives and understanding which vehicles offer theoptimal mix to achieve CO₂ emission reductions while balancingcorporate financial goals. Vehicle fleets for large corporationscan have thousands of vehicles that are replaced on a timescale ofmonths to years. We present the three main components of the FleetPurchase Planner (patent pending) that provide fleet customers thelowest cost solution to achieving their sustainability goals: theVehicle Emissions and Fuel Cost Calculator, the Fleet CO₂Emissions Footprint Status Calculator, and the PurchaseRecommender. The Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Cost Calculatorapplies customer-specific information, such as vehicle type, fueltype and price, driving conditions (city or highway), geographicregion where the vehicle will operate, and fuel efficiency togenerate the vehicle sustainability and fuel cost information. TheFleet CO₂ Emissions Footprint Status Calculator is designed to helpfleet customers understand their current carbon footprint based ontheir specific fleet, regions, and fuel economy. The PurchaseRecommender uses mathematical optimization to provide customizedpurchase recommendations that highlight the best valueopportunities for improving corporate sustainability. Thisinnovative analytical solution helps Ford fleet customers betterunderstand their green vehicle technology options and identify theoptimal vehicle fleet for their needs
