Summary:
Nickalyn is a new generation of high strength aluminum alloys. Nickalyn alloys have tensile strengths exceeding 530 MPa, yet are readily castable. Nickalyn alloys are weldable, maintaining high strength in the heat-affected zone. These alloys may be the highest strength castable and weldable aluminum alloys currently available for use in commercial applications.Nickalyn alloys can be used in almost any casting process. Nickalyn alloys can also be used in forging processes, as well as the production of aluminum sheet, plate, extrusions and profiles. The highest mechanical properties are obtained in manufacturing processes in which pressure is added. These alloys can be used in housings, pulleys, brackets, and other parts. Their high strength may allow weight savings in many cases as a result of reductions in wall thickness. The use of Nickalyn also provides greater design freedom and additional choices of manufacturing technology
