- Summary:
- Any program of lunar exploration will require extended stay time of personnel. This paper discusses the technical problems imposed by the lunar environment upon shelter design to house personnel and the necessary subsystems to support man in this environment. It also presents a modular approach to shelter design that could form the basis for expanded lunar operations as needed. The analysis of the environment and the preliminary design of a lunar shelter has clearly shown that a shelter can be designed to operate on the lunar surface for periods up to two years
