- Summary:
- The helicopter has a role to play in transportation and this is shown in comparison to the automobile, train, and airplane. Economic costs, based on fares and the value of time while traveling, have been used to determine the effectiveness of each system. Simultaneous comparison of all four systems presents definite economic boundaries between them. Each system serves a specific segment of the transportation market. In this regard, the helicopter is currently superior in serving the quantity transportation market (which is comprised of business and pleasure travelers) for ranges of 20-200 miles, and for ranges of 30-300 miles in the future
