India is densely populated and has high solar insolation, which varies from 4 to 7 kWh/ (m2.day) with about 1500-2000 sunshine hours per year. Transportation sector is a major source for global carbon emissions and also contributes to air quality concerns, particularly in urban areas. In view of above, development of a passenger solar electric hybrid vehicle program has been initiated.
