Summary:
Analysis of the induction coil circuit indicates that the speed with which the primary current in an induction coil is brought to zero is found to be a critical factor in determining the maximum output voltage. Two types of current interrupting devices were investigated experimentally and gave results in agreement with theory. It is seen that a p-n junction arc-suppressor can provide faster current breaks than does the conventional point condenser arrangement
