- Summary:
- This paper described the Federal Aviation Agency's design and installation of a system of cockpit instrumentation for use in all weather landing operations. The instrumentation, which utilizes commercially available equipment wherever possible, is expected to give the capability of manual instrument approaches to touchdown under instrument conditions. With this capability and through use of a failure warning display, it is proposed that the pilot will be able to successfully monitor an automatic landing system and take positive corrective action in case of a fault
