Summary:
The second generation manned spacecraft, such as Project Gemini, have necessitated more stringent life support system performance because of increased operational time and human metabolic requirements. To assure that the life support system will meet intended design requirements, much tighter tolerances must be imposed upon test equipment and system test performance parameters. To meet these requirements, ground support equipment was designed and fabricated to utilize the commonality of both environmental central system and reactants supply system. This paper describes Project Gemini ground support equipment together with design philosophy, design criteria, human factors, and problem areas encountered
