- The Orenda OT-4 600 hp gas turbine uses a simple regenerative cycle with fixed heat exchangers; and is being developed for multipurpose continuous-duty or emergency applications The objective, with major emphasis on component development, is to develop a gas turbine with a specific fuel consumption competitive with that of the diesel and with the inherent gas turbine advantages of lightweight compactness, reliability, rapid starting, and ease of servicing. A general description of this engine is given in this paper. The basic design and the various controlling factors influencing the engine design are discussed
