- Summary:
- This paper describes the Captured Air Bubble (CAB) vehicle, a type that has very low power required to attain air cushion support over water. It "captures" the "air bubble" by means of sideboards extending down into the water and by means of low angle of attack movable planing surfaces fore and aft in contact with the water.CAB specific loadings are not restricted to low values, a fact attributable to the small amount of power involved in air resupply; hence, the specific loadings are very high by ground effect machine standards. The resulting equivalent lift-to-drag (or weight-to-resistance) ratio picture for the CAB is very favorable when operating at high speeds
