This paper reports the experience and progress American Airlines has made with the 727 airplane from the time it was introduced in January 1964 for flight crew and ground maintenance training, and into schedule operation from April through July 1964.In general, American's experience with the airplane has been quite satisfactory. There have been some system and engine reliability problems which forced the airline to take exceptional measures, in order to maintain good schedule reliability until such time as the final corrective action could be taken by Boeing, Pratt and Whitney, and the other manufacturers involved
