Summary:
A recent study by the Engineers' Joint Council points out a glaring deficiency in development of trained engineering technicians in the United States. Since 1955 engineering colleges have undergone radical changes in that practical or skill courses have been eliminated and greater emphasis placed on mathematics and physical sciences. This change has caused a wide gap to develop between the skilled craftsman and the professional engineer. This paper presents an engineering technology curriculum. The college level training consists of basic science, technical, and nontechnical courses for the development of the engineering technician
