Summary:

Air freight terminals appear to have been planned without considering the needs of shippers or the possibility that the traffic consist might change in the next 20 years. This paper suggests that carriers consider some joint activities which might attract more freight into the air as well as make maximum use of available freight capacity. The aim is to level out, at least to some degree, the present daily peaks and valleys in freight movement and to devise a system that will be sufficiently flexible to ensure its adaptability to future changes in airports, airways, and aircraft
