AbstractThe possibility of improving aircraft range, payload, and endurance through application of regenerative cycle engines is examined in this paper. Emphasis is placed on the reduction in propulsion system weight realizable for first and second generation aircraft of the future. Propulsion system characteristics of future regenerative and nonregenerative turboshaft, turboprop, and turbofan engines is estimated and discussed
