- Summary:
- The SNAP 50/SPUR potassium Rankine-cycle power-conversion system technology is described in some detail, including the status of development of the potassium boiler, potassium turbogenerator, condenser/radiator, pumps, and control system. Current test results and hardware are shown.A discussion of a potential lunar application and associated problems is included. Conclusions reached are that the high-temperature Rankine cycle with potassium as the working fluid is an excellent choice for applications of this nature because of the light weight, compact size, and simplicity inherent in this system
