- Summary:
- Various problems are discussed which have been encountered by USAERDL in extended test and operation of small industrial gas turbines on the wide range of fuels existing in the Army supply system. These problems include lead deposition and corrosion of turbine hot section components and premature wear and failure of fuel system components when operating on leaded gasoline, and combustion system carbon formation when operating on all fuels. This paper presents possible solutions to these problems, developed from extended laboratory tests and investigation, and offers means to enable long life gas turbine multifuel operation
