Summary:
Lubrication "simplification" reduces the cost of lubricant inventory, lubricant ordering and handling, lubricant service, lubrication dispensing equipment, and reduces lubricant contamination and waste. The variety of equipment used in logging in a wide temperature range and variations in lubricant recommendations by manufacturers, make simplification difficult. Analysis by the user, with the assistance of lubricant supplier and manufacturer, can develop substitution or compromising possibilities which will sustain a simplification program.Diluting lubricating oils with kerosene is sometimes recommended. However, this requires greater control measures than generally considered as normal since viscosity can be impaired
