Summary:
Engine manufacturers are vitally concerned with all characteristics of the cooling system designs used with the engine products. This paper shows that adequate cooling can be achieved with minimum fan power in the range 24% of engine flywheel power, by proper selection and design of the basic radiator core element. The liquid side, deaerating, cooling system described will function under all automotive conditions and will separate air from the coolant whenever the engine is running, regard less of thermostat position. The many factors to be considered, when designing cooling systems beyond the usual heat rejection capacity, are discussed
